The artwork from this Studio, and presented in this way is a registered design, with many thousands sold and collected worldwide to-date. We offer not only reproduction prints and original paintings in this way but also fused glass.
The Sienna collection of fused glass is an exploration of design and individuality, with each piece being an original creation in itself as every piece is unique. The preparation of each piece takes time and meticulous patience to ensure perfect results after firing in a kiln. Each piece starts out as a sheet of plain glass, on which the artist carefully plans out the design. In this creative process, many different materials are used in order to obtain the many different textures, and effects within the glass itself. These include metals, foils, mesh, enamel powders, glass grain, oxides, gold and silver leaf, and copper wire to name but a few. All these materials are what give the fused glass its unique look, with the design itself being created within each layer of glass. Once the artist has created the design the glass is kiln fired at temperatures in excess of 800 degrees C. The process of fusing the design in to the glass takes around 30 hours. The glass then needs to be allowed to cool slowly to prevent what we call thermal shock by cooling to quickly causing the glass to break.
The designs created here are mounted on to bevelled glass, which can be smoked, clear, or bronze tinted and forms part of a registered design format making this truly remarkable presentation wholly unique not just in concept and diversity but also in individuality.
